The Delhi High Court has intervened to temporarily halt the demolition of two homes in connection with the Uttam Nagar Holi clash case, where a 26-year-old man was killed. The court has ordered that no demolition take place until March 11, amid ongoing legal proceedings.
The families involved in the petitions feared unauthorized demolitions following violent events that left a communal atmosphere of insecurity in the locality. Justice Amit Bansal emphasized that no demolition should occur until the case is revisited in court.
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) had demolished part of a house on grounds of illegal construction, but petitioners argue demolition should not follow without proper legal notice or procedure, especially in what they call a personal dispute with communal tensions.
