The Delhi High Court has asked former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, his deputy Manish Sisodia, and 21 others named in the excise policy case to address a plea from the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The plea seeks to expunge 'unwarranted' remarks made by a trial court against the ED.
The observations were labeled as general, with the trial court having discharged all 23 accused individuals in the case. The court highlighted perceived unfairness in the investigation, which the ED contends were made without it being a party to the case.
The trial court earlier discharged the accused, stating that the conspiracy allegations lacked evidence. It argued that prolonged incarceration based on untested allegations raised significant constitutional concerns.
