The Delhi High Court's ruling on an excise policy case has set off a heated debate between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Each party interpreted the court's decision to their advantage, leading to a war of words on Monday.
Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva lauded the high court for admitting the Central Bureau of Investigation's (CBI) petition. He mentioned past cases where lower courts discharged politically significant figures, who eventually faced dire consequences, drawing parallels with the acquittal of AAP leaders like Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia.
However, AAP argued that the court's decision only paused administrative action against CBI officials and did not affect their leaders’ exoneration by a trial court. AAP's Delhi president, Saurabh Bharadwaj, accused the CBI of acting on orders from higher authorities, who allegedly aimed to fabricate false cases against AAP leaders.
