The Delhi High Court has intervened against potential demolition actions by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), suspending any such steps against the homes of those implicated in a murder case during Holi in Uttam Nagar. This order stands firm until Wednesday's hearing.
Justice Amit Bansal explicitly instructed civic authorities to refrain from coercive actions while the High Court examines submissions from the accused's family members, represented by Advocate Divyesh Pratap Singh.
Petitioners Shahnaz and Jarina allege that the demolitions proceeding without notice violate legal norms. They contend that their residential properties, longstanding and tax-compliant, were unfairly targeted following a local dispute escalated by misinformation. The case highlights the need for adherence to legal processes and the safeguarding of constitutional rights, set for detailed hearing on Wednesday.
