The proceedings in the Lok Sabha faced disruption on Tuesday as opposition members flooded the Well of the House, voicing slogans against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The unrest was primarily fueled by allegations of electoral misconduct referenced as 'vote chori'.
Joining the protest initiated by Trinamool Congress (TMC) members, Congress representatives amplified their dissent, directing chants against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Amid the chaos, MP Sandhya Ray, who was presiding over the session, attempted to maintain focus on the scheduled agriculture ministry discussions.
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan criticized the TMC government in West Bengal for failing to implement farmer welfare initiatives. The ongoing turmoil prompted a halt in proceedings, leading to a 25-minute adjournment at noon.
