Prohibitory Orders Imposed in Meghalaya Ahead of GHADC Elections
Prohibitory orders have been enforced in West Garo Hills District, Meghalaya, to prevent potential disturbances during the nomination process for the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council elections scheduled for April 10. The restrictions aim to maintain public peace and order during the filing of nominations.

The district administration in West Garo Hills, Meghalaya, has enforced prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita. This move comes ahead of the nomination process for the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) elections.
Set to be held on April 10, the elections cover 29 seats of the GHADC. The prohibitory orders, issued by District Magistrate Vibhor Aggarwal, are effective from 5 a.m. on March 9 until the end of the nomination process.
The administration anticipates potential disturbances and has restricted carrying weapons and obstructing vehicles. However, armed forces and law enforcement on duty are exempt from these restrictions.
