Kerala High Court Halts Disputed Government Initiative

The Kerala High Court ruled on Tuesday that government finances should not be allocated to the Nava Kerala Citizen Response Programme. The court thereby annulled an order approving Rs 20 crores for the initiative.

A bench, including Chief Justice Soumen Sen and Justice Syam Kumar V M, highlighted that the expenditure for implementing such a programme contravenes the established rules of business.

The ruling followed two petitions, one by KSU state president Aloshious Xavier, advocating the annulment of this programme's launch, which they alleged was a political maneuver by the ruling party masquerading as a government initiative in anticipation of the 2026 state assembly elections.
