The Karnataka government has reached out to the Ministry of External Affairs, urging immediate support for the family of 22-year-old Saketh Sreenivasaiah, an Indian student missing in California. Enrolled at the University of California, Berkeley, Saketh was last seen on February 12, prompting a flurry of diplomatic efforts to locate him.
Karnataka Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh has formally appealed to Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, highlighting the anxiety gripping Saketh’s family back home. Despite lodging a complaint with the Berkeley Police Department, Saketh’s whereabouts remain unknown, triggering a cross-border search with coordination from the Consulate General of India in San Francisco.
His father, Sreenivasaiah, is contemplating traveling to the US as communications intensify between his family and mission officials. The Berkeley police have recovered Saketh’s personal items near Anza Lake, and Indian diplomats remain in close touch with local authorities to ensure every possible measure is taken to find Saketh.
