The judicial custody of Punjab's suspended Deputy Inspector General of Police, Harcharan Singh Bhullar, has been extended by a CBI court after his arrest for alleged bribery. Bhullar, detained on October 16, appeared via video conferencing as his custody was prolonged by 14 days, lasting until November 14.

Bhullar was apprehended following a complaint from Mandi Gobindgarh, a scrap dealer in Fatehgarh Sahib, accusing him of demanding monthly payments to settle a 2023 case. The CBI investigation revealed accusations of Bhullar seeking illegal facilitation payments and issuing threats of false criminal charges.

During a search at his residence, authorities seized over Rs 7.36 crore in cash and valuable items. Charges have been filed under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. As Bhullar faces serious allegations, he remains suspended by the Punjab government.
