Controversy Surrounds Shooting of Alleged Lashkar-e-Taiba Activist in Pakistan

A 28-year-old man suspected of being an activist with the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba group was shot dead on Friday in Punjab, Pakistan. However, local police assert the young man, Sheikh Muaz Mujahid, had no affiliation with the terror organization.

The shooting unfolded in Kot Radha Kishan, Kasur district, approximately 60 kilometers from Lahore. According to senior police officer Essa Khan, the fatal incident occurred during a firefight between two rival factions, identified as Rehan and Faizan, and Mujahid was caught in the crossfire. ''Bullets hit Mujahid, who died on the spot,'' Khan reported, denying any claims of Mujahid's involvement with the Lashkar-e-Taiba.

A case under multiple sections of the Pakistan Penal Code has been filed against over 20 suspects linked to the rival groups on the complaint of Mujahid's father. Mujahid, who owned a sports shop and recently married, was rumored to be connected to the terrorist group.
