The Left Front on Wednesday urged the Election Commission to ensure the integrity of electoral rolls by deleting the names of deceased and fake voters, while adding genuine ones, in the wake of a special intensive revision (SIR) across states.
In a memorandum to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), following SIR's announcement, they insisted on using Aadhaar, voter, job, and ration cards as valid proof of voter eligibility, clarifying that SIR is not designed to verify citizens' status.
The leaders underscored the need for transparent procedures, calling for guidelines and protective measures for migrants and students, while expressing concern over the panic being spread around the electoral process.
