Mumbai police have enacted stringent security measures ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit on Wednesday. In anticipation of his arrival, authorities have banned drones, paragliders, remote-controlled microlight aircraft, balloons, and kites near the airport and surrounding areas in the western suburbs.
Prime Minister Modi will be addressing the Maritime Leaders Conclave and chairing the Global Maritime CEO Forum during India Maritime Week 2025 at the NESCO Exhibition Centre in Goregaon East. Given the presence of numerous VIPs, police officials issued a prohibitory order valid through midnight Wednesday. The order cites potential threats from terrorists and anti-social elements possibly launching drone attacks, leading to a risk to public safety and disruption of peace.
To ensure public safety, the ban extends to the jurisdiction of several police stations, including Sahar, Vile Parle, Andheri, Goregaon, Vanrai, Jogeshwari, MIDC, Dindoshi, and Aarey. Violators face penalties under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita section 223. The Mumbai police also announced the restriction of heavy vehicle movement on the Western Express Highway, spanning Vakola flyover to Dahisar toll naka, from 2 PM to 9 PM on Wednesday.
