A Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls is set to commence in Puducherry on November 4, according to an announcement from the Election Department. The initiative is part of a broader push by the Election Commission to update rolls in several poll-bound regions.
Puducherry’s Chief Electoral Officer, P Jawahar, detailed plans to conduct the revision across four regions: Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe, and Yanam. This update, occurring after 24 years, aims to enhance accuracy by identifying absent electors, deceased individuals, duplicate entries, and new eligible voters.
Booth Level Officers will perform door-to-door visits, distributing and collecting pre-filled enumeration forms. The revised rolls will be available for public review on December 9, with final publication slated for February 7. Residents can reach out to their local Booth Level Officers or use the Election Commission’s online resources for assistance.
