The union territory of Puducherry is set to begin its first Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in 24 years, commencing on November 4. This initiative, led by Chief Electoral Officer P. Jawahar, will ensure accurate and error-free rolls across all regions including Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe, and Yanam.
This revision exercise, as ordered by the Election Commission of India, encompasses 11 other states and union territories. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will conduct extensive door-to-door visits, distributing pre-filled enumeration forms to existing electors. The aim is to identify absent, deceased, duplicate, and new eligible voters.
The process will include training political parties and their Booth Level Agents to assist with voter enumeration. The draft electoral rolls will be published on December 9, with the final version slated for release on February 7, 2026. Puducherry citizens can seek further info via the ECINET-voters service portal or by calling the helpline.
