In a successful operation, customs officials at Nagpur's Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport foiled a smuggling attempt involving foreign-origin cigarettes.

The incident occurred on Sunday when two passengers arriving from Sharjah were intercepted. Officials unearthed 701 boxes containing 1,40,200 cigarettes concealed in their luggage.

Valued at Rs 14 lakh, the cigarettes were confiscated under the Customs Act, launching a probe into the incident to unravel any further connections, as stated by officials on Tuesday.
