Delhi Customs has successfully crushed several smuggling rings over the past six months, recovering gold and narcotics valued at over Rs 360 crore. This sustained operation culminated in the arrest of 74 individuals violating Customs laws. Since the start of the financial year 2025-26, the organization seized 26.269 kg of gold worth Rs 24.68 crore and 239 kg of narcotics valued at Rs 338.03 crore.

Notably, officials at the Indira Gandhi International Airport have been crucial in detecting and thwarting smuggling activities. A notable instance involved an Indian passenger arriving from Bangkok, whose attempt to smuggle 2.5 kg of hydroponic weed hidden within his baggage was thwarted. Similarly, another passenger from Dubai was caught using an inventive method to conceal gold within a water bottle cap. These efforts underscore Delhi Customs' commitment to safeguarding national economic borders.

The vigilance does not stop at capture; a concerted cleanliness drive also saw narcotics worth Rs 850 crore destroyed in mid-October. As smugglers devise ever more sophisticated methods, Delhi Customs remains steadfast in its responsive and preventative measures, ensuring illicit goods do not reach the market.
