Prashant Kishor, the architect behind the Jan Suraaj Party, finds himself entangled in a voter registration debacle. Allegedly registered as a voter in both Bihar and West Bengal, Kishor has been served a notice by the district election office in Bihar's Rohtas district. The development has sparked a political furore, with both the ruling NDA and opposition INDIA bloc in Bihar seizing the opportunity to question Kishor's political maneuvers.

According to official records, Kishor is registered as a voter at the Trinamool Congress headquarters in Bhabanipur assembly constituency, emphasizing his prior role as a political consultant for the TMC during the 2021 assembly elections. The situation became further entangled when the notice cited Section 31 of the Representation of People Act, which prohibits voter registration at multiple locations and threatens punishment for violations.

The incident has led to strong reactions from various political parties. While the JD(U) speculates about Kishor's political ambitions and alleged attempts to secure a Rajya Sabha seat, the BJP accuses him of colluding with TMC to disrupt Bihar's elections. The issue underscores ongoing challenges with voter list duplications in India, which the Election Commission aims to rectify through its Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
