The Punjab and Haryana High Court has slapped a Rs 2 lakh fine on four senior Punjab officers, including Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav, for not adhering to its directive on modified vehicles.
Justice Sudeepti Sharma instructed that each officer, including transport officials and the Sangrur Deputy Commissioner, contribute Rs 50,000 from their salaries to the Punjab Chief Minister's Relief Fund.
This comes in response to a contempt petition filed against the state's repeated failure to stop modified vehicles on roads, despite a 2023 order mandating action.
