'Cyber Jago' Initiative Empowers Punjab Schoolchildren for Online Safety

The Punjab Police's cybercrime division has unveiled 'Cyber Jago', a pioneering statewide initiative focused on promoting internet safety for schoolchildren. This ambitious program aims to educate nearly five lakh students across Punjab with the help of workshops and training sessions.
Inaugurated by Special DGP Gurpreet Deo with support from senior police officials, educators, and partner organizations, 'Cyber Jago' seeks to equip teachers with essential knowledge of cyber hygiene and online threat identification. Notably, the initiative is an alliance with NGO Space2Grow and cybersecurity firms to offer comprehensive training.
The rapid proliferation of internet and smartphone use among children, accelerated by the pandemic, has heightened the urgency for such measures. Special DGP V Neeraja emphasized the importance of proactive engagement by teachers and parents in navigating the digital landscape safely. The 'Cyber Jago' program underscores the importance of preparing educators to address online threats like AI-related issues and child exploitation.
