In a horrific case of cybercrime, a 19-year-old college student committed suicide in Faridabad after being blackmailed with AI-generated obscene content of him and his sisters. The tragedy unfolded as the perpetrators hacked Rahul’s phone, creating fake images and video, then demanding money, according to local authorities.
Rahul, a second-year B.Com student, was reportedly distressed over the threats, which led him to consume a poisonous substance. His family claims the blackmail began two weeks ago, pushing the young man to take such drastic action. Despite efforts to save him, he succumbed at the hospital.
An FIR has been filed against the suspects under various sections of the IPC and IT Act. Authorities are collecting technical evidence to apprehend the accused. This incident underscores the dark side of AI's misuse in cybercrime, highlighting a need for robust digital security practices.
