The cyber police in Nuh district have successfully arrested six individuals allegedly involved in a sprawling cybercrime network that stretches across multiple Indian states, an official reported on Monday.
The accused, identified as Arshad, Wasim, Aamir, Sabir Khan, Jalaluddin, and Satyam Singh, were reportedly engaged in a series of scams, including online fraud, sextortion, and impersonation. They reportedly defrauded victims by posing as bank representatives or officials to obtain sensitive information under false pretenses. According to Nuh Assistant Superintendent of Police Ayush Yadav, the syndicate has swindled victims out of considerable sums of money by exploiting these tactics.
A detailed investigation revealed the complex methods employed by the accused. While some posed as various representatives, others used fake social media profiles or facilitated the fraudulent sale of items like old coins. The operation's geographical spread further complicated efforts to track their activities, with connections tracing back to different states and employing interstate IPs and numbers. Police recovered several pieces of evidence, including mobile phones, SIM cards, and vehicles.
