The Election Commission of India is set to launch the second phase of a special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in 12 states and Union Territories, as announced by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar on Monday.
The comprehensive voter list revision will focus on regions including Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, Chhattisgarh, and others that are preparing for elections in 2026.
The initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance electoral accuracy by removing ineligible voters and ensuring all eligible electors are accounted for. The revision process will commence on November 4, with draft rolls available by December 9 and the final list by February 7.
