A video allegedly showing an attack on a vehicle with religious preachers in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua district has gained traction on social media, resulting in the suspension of a sub-inspector and seven special police officers, officials reported on Friday.
The police have apprehended a suspect linked to the incident, confirming coordination efforts are ongoing to capture additional culprits, said an official source.
In the Juthana area near the Rajbagh police station in Kathua, religious preachers were reportedly assaulted by a group wielding sticks while they traveled. Viral footage shows police on the scene, yet unable to immediately intervene, the source added. Notably, the main accused, Ravindra Singh Thela, has a history of criminal activity, the official stated.
