International Security Force Envisioned for Gaza Ceasefire
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio states an international security force is needed in Gaza, composed of countries acceptable to Israel. The governance of Gaza remains undecided, but it will exclude Hamas. Discussion continues on a possible role for the Palestinian Authority.
The potential formation of an international security force in Gaza was highlighted during U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio's recent visit to Israel. This force is to be made up of nations with which Israel feels secure, as part of a ceasefire agreement.
Secretary Rubio emphasized that the governance structure of Gaza is yet to be finalized, with discussions ongoing among Israel and its international partners. A significant point of consensus is that Hamas will not be included in any future governance plans for Gaza.
While the involvement of the Palestinian Authority remains under consideration, no definitive role has been established. The dialogue over Gaza's governance will continue to evolve in line with the ceasefire arrangements and international diplomatic efforts.
