The Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) in Thane has granted a compensation of Rs 25.78 lakh to the family of Brijendra Lal Bahadur Singh, who tragically lost his life in a road accident in 2020.
Singh was killed in November of that year when a speeding truck struck his motorcycle from behind near Nagzari village in Panvel, Navi Mumbai. MACT Member RV Mohite concluded that the accident resulted from the truck driver's negligence after reviewing the FIR, spot panchnama, and post-mortem report.
Singh’s family had initially claimed Rs 1 crore in compensation, citing his monthly salary as Rs 45,000. However, the tribunal determined his income to be Rs 15,000 per month due to the lack of corroboratory documents, and accordingly adjusted the compensation amount.
