Acting ICE Chief Todd Lyons to Step Down in May 2026: A Leadership Legacy

In a recent announcement, the Acting Director of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Todd Lyons, is set to step down from his role at the end of May 2026. This news was confirmed by US officials, with Markwayne Mullin, Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, lauding Lyons for his leadership in a post on X, while noting his last official day will be May 31.

During his tenure, Lyons played a crucial role in aiding the Trump administration's efforts to remove individuals posing threats to communities, such as murderers and gang members. His leadership saw the agency reinvigorated after a period of inactivity, resulting in increased safety for American communities, Mullin said, while wishing him success in his future endeavors in the private sector.
