Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Friday inaugurated the first Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) hospital in Kashmir, a significant step in advancing worker welfare. The 30-bedded facility in Ompora is groundbreaking, aiming to improve healthcare access for the region's workforce.
Speaking at the inauguration, Mandaviya emphasized the importance of valuing worker dignity, linking it with a nation's progress. He highlighted India's social security expansion, which has grown from 19% coverage in 2015 to a projected 64.3% by 2025, noting recognition from international bodies.
The hospital, part of broader reforms including the four Labour Codes, will provide annual health check-ups and integrate with nationwide healthcare schemes to ensure accessible, cashless treatment for beneficiaries.
