The Gurugram authorities have uncovered a major counterfeit drug operation involving fake Mounjaro (tirzepatide) injections and have arrested two key figures in the case. The plot was foiled after a detailed investigation led to a raid on a residential society in Sector 62.
Drug Control Officer Amandeep Chauhan disclosed that the fake injections, meant for type 2 diabetes treatment, were manufactured using raw drugs imported from China. The operation was conducted from a flat within the society, with illegal products being distributed through the B2B portal Indiamart.
A nationwide alert has been initiated to detect counterfeit supplies. Authorities seized Rs 70 lakh worth of these injections during a vehicle interception in DLF Phase 4. The detained individuals, delivering fraudulent products, are being interrogated as the investigation broadens.
