In a significant boost to local healthcare infrastructure, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann inaugurated the Sant Attar Singh Ji Maharaj Hospital in Cheema village on Thursday. The state-of-the-art, 30-bed facility was built at a cost of Rs 11.70 crore. It aims to serve around 50,000 people across 15 villages, providing accessible, affordable treatment options.
Addressing the gathering, Mann explained that the hospital will ease the burden on residents who previously had to travel to Sangrur, Patiala, and Ludhiana for treatment. The new hospital is well-equipped with modern machines, including dedicated emergency and mother-child wards, and offers pediatric, ENT, and dental services alongside free maternal and child healthcare.
Mann also reviewed the impact of the state's anti-drug initiatives, noting a crackdown on the drug trade, with smugglers behind bars and their properties confiscated. He stated that the government will recognize those providing critical information against drug smugglers. Looking ahead, Mann announced plans for a medical college named after Sant Baba Attar Singh to further enhance medical education in the region.
