The Punjab government has revealed plans to increase milk procurement prices for farmers working with Milkfed Punjab (Verka), aiming to boost their income and fortify the rural economy.
The new rates, which take effect from April 1, 2026, will see a rise of Rs 10 to Rs 15 per kg of fat, as announced by the Chief Minister's Office under Bhagwant Singh Mann's leadership.
This initiative is set to benefit around 2.5 lakh dairy farmers and could potentially lead to a sector-wide price adjustment with an anticipated Rs 100 crore monthly infusion into the state's rural economy.
