BRS Members Rally for Cancer Awareness and Environmental Safety in India

BRS Rajya Sabha member B Parthasaradhi Reddy has called on the government to treat cancer as a national priority, noting it poses a growing public health emergency. He emphasized the sharp rise in cancer cases in India, attributing it to late detection, lack of routine screening, and low awareness.

Reddy pointed out that the concentration of advanced cancer treatment centers in cities leaves rural patients struggling with long travel distances. He highlighted the financial burden on middle-income families due to high treatment costs, urging the government to make oncology drugs more affordable and accessible.

In parallel, BRS member KR Suresh Reddy demanded a ban on Paraquat Dichloride, a herbicide posing severe health and environmental risks. Highlighting its link to numerous suicide deaths, he stressed the need for action against its widespread availability.
