In a significant development, Delhi's Saket court has approved a four-day police remand for Rahul Meena, who is implicated in the alleged rape and murder of an IRS officer's daughter. Meena was apprehended at a hotel in Dwarka and appeared in court on Thursday for the custody hearing.
The court's decision follows a request by Delhi Police for an extended custody period to enable a comprehensive investigation. This includes recovering Meena's mobile phone, probing his family members, and verifying the possible involvement of additional suspects.
During court proceedings, the accused confessed to entering the victim's house for money and expressed remorse for his actions. Meanwhile, police efforts continue to trace Meena's travel route and gather further evidence, amidst legal opposition over the necessity of a prolonged remand.
