In a scathing critique, Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejaswi Yadav has accused the Union government of using the Delimitation Bill alongside the Women's Reservation Amendment Bill as a strategic guise. According to Yadav, the move is a deliberate attempt to undermine the Indian Constitution and democracy.
Speaking to reporters, Yadav pointed out the discrepancies between the two initiatives, highlighting that while women's reservation was previously passed unanimously, their demand for inclusion of OBC women went unmet. He argued that the real focus should be on the delimitation process and accused the government of ulterior motives.
He further alleged that the BJP and RSS are keen on advancing their agenda, which they aim to achieve through these legislative changes. Meanwhile, a recent parliamentary session saw a majority vote allowing the introduction of the Constitution (One Hundred and Thirty-First Amendment) Bill and the Delimitation Bill in the Lok Sabha.
