In the lead-up to the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections, candidates' financial disclosures spotlight dramatic asset spikes. Jakir Hossain of TMC saw his wealth grow from Rs 67 crore in 2021 to over Rs 133 crore now.
Notably, BJP's Sudip Kumar Mukherjee recorded an extraordinary 2,344% asset increase, with his wealth swelling from Rs 45 lakh to Rs 11 crore. This pattern of rising financial portfolios is shared among several other candidates vying for re-election.
However, it's not universal prosperity; some, including Suvendu Adhikari and Ashoke Dinda, experienced decreased asset values. These financial shifts, drawn from election affidavits, provide a deeper understanding of the political-economic landscape of West Bengal.
