Thousands of autorickshaw drivers in Raichur and surrounding districts face grueling wait times at refueling stations amid rumors of an LPG shortage in Northern Karnataka. The panic escalated following the closure of several private outlets and global disruptions linked to the ongoing West Asia conflict, creating extensive queues near city landmarks.

The state government and major Public Sector Undertakings like IndianOil have assured that there is no actual shortage for domestic or public transport needs. However, disparities between government rates and increased private prices have incited protests among drivers whose livelihoods are precariously impacted. Karnataka’s Food and Civil Supplies Minister, K.H. Muniyappa, reiterated that the supply remains adequate and directed IndianOil to enhance daily sales, while warning private distributors against black marketing.

The Indian government confirmed the availability of petrol, diesel, LPG, and PNG nationwide. Meanwhile, Indian Oil Corp and Hindustan Petroleum Corp have boosted their LPG cylinder deliveries to support demand. Karnataka's CM Siddaramaiah appealed for urgent intervention to address the acute shortage in Bengaluru, where demand far exceeds supply, forcing businesses to pause operations. Amidst tensions in West Asia, the central government offers financial relief to affected exporters and coordinates efforts to secure energy supplies and protect Indian nationals in the region.
