Coal India's Northern Coalfields Ltd (NCL) reported a milestone achievement on Friday, supplying a record-breaking 137.08 million tonnes of coal in the 2025-26 fiscal year. This landmark output significantly strengthens India's energy security amidst rising domestic demand and global market shifts.

Approximately 117.85 million tonnes, or 86%, of the total supply was allocated to coal-based power plants. NCL emphasized its major role in supporting national energy needs, stating that 85.51% of its coal dispatches were conducted through environmentally sustainable methods.

Operating in the Singrauli region, known as India's 'energy capital,' NCL's focused efforts yielded a 1.08% production increase, achieving all project targets and reinforcing its critical position in the country's power generation sector.
