NCL's Mega Milestone: Powering India's Energy Security with Record Coal Dispatch
NCL has set a new record by supplying 137.08 million tonnes of coal in the fiscal year 2025-26, heavily contributing to India's energy security. Most of this supply was directed to power plants, emphasizing the strategic role of coal in meeting the country's rising energy demands.

Coal India's Northern Coalfields Ltd (NCL) reported a milestone achievement on Friday, supplying a record-breaking 137.08 million tonnes of coal in the 2025-26 fiscal year. This landmark output significantly strengthens India's energy security amidst rising domestic demand and global market shifts.
Approximately 117.85 million tonnes, or 86%, of the total supply was allocated to coal-based power plants. NCL emphasized its major role in supporting national energy needs, stating that 85.51% of its coal dispatches were conducted through environmentally sustainable methods.
Operating in the Singrauli region, known as India's 'energy capital,' NCL's focused efforts yielded a 1.08% production increase, achieving all project targets and reinforcing its critical position in the country's power generation sector.
