The Delhi High Court has intervened, instructing the Central Government to expunge URLs of the contentious song 'Volume 1' by artists Honey Singh and Badshah from all social networking and sharing sites. The court categorizes the track as objectionable for its explicitness and offensive portrayal of women.
The directive, dispensed by Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav, emerged from a petition filed by the Hindu Shakti Dal and others, spotlighting the song's impact since its release in 2006. Scheduled for a further hearing on May 7, the order also calls upon the singers Honey Singh and Badshah for notices.
The court's decision stemmed from arguments presented by advocate Rupali Panwar, who underscored the track's accessibility to minors as particularly concerning. Following a personal review of the song, Justice Kaurav's mandate extends to the removal of associated URLs, permitting petitioners to identify additional links for deletion.
