The Delhi High Court has ordered the removal of a contentious rap song by Yo Yo Honey Singh and Badshah, citing its vulgar and demeaning nature. The 2006 track has been criticized for lacking civility and artistic merit.
Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav expressed that the song's lyrics reduce women to mere objects, shaking his conscience to its core. The court stressed that artistic freedom cannot mask the disrespect and harmful ideology promoted by the track, especially on platforms accessible to minors.
The court directed Honey Singh, Badshah, and others with vested interests to ensure the song's removal across media platforms, responding to a petition filed by the Hindu Shakti Dal. Further hearing is scheduled for May 7 to address concerns of violence and objectionable lyrics.
