The Delhi High Court has dismissed a petition concerning vote surplus issues in the Bar Council of Delhi (BCD) election, stating there's no need to intervene in the Returning Officer's decision. The court highlighted that results will only be declared after a thorough reconciliation of votes, ensuring transparency.
The petition was submitted by nine candidates, including Advocate Anushkaa Arora and Shahid Ali, contesting the decision made by the Returning Officer on March 20. The petitioners argued for immediate vote reconciliation as the counting progressed.
Justice Amit Bansal affirmed that the matter was addressed by the Returning Officer, a former Judge of the Court, who assured that all votes would be reconciled once the counting concludes. Despite objections on petition maintainability, the court opted not to address this aspect, focusing instead on ensuring fairness in the election process.
