In a strategic move to bolster election preparedness, the Election Commission of India appointed Sandeep Rai Rathore as the new Director-General of Police for Tamil Nadu. This decision comes as part of a series of high-profile transfers aimed at ensuring unbiased and efficient law enforcement during the upcoming state elections.

Rathore replaces G. Venkataraman in a shift mandated for immediate implementation by the Tamil Nadu government. The Election Commission has specifically instructed that the transferred officer must not hold any election-related positions until the completion of the electoral process.

The commission also orchestrated the transfer of four Indian Police Service officers across Tamil Nadu, further solidifying the state's administrative structure ahead of the polls scheduled on April 23. These include posts in Kancheepuram, Perambalur, Thanjavur, and Tenkasi, underscoring the EC's comprehensive strategy for fair elections.
