Vijayawada Division Achieves Unprecedented Railway Success
The Vijayawada Division of South Central Railway has achieved its highest-ever performance in revenue, freight, and passenger services, marking a record-breaking year. Notable milestones include gross revenue of ₹5,907 crore, freight loading reaching 40.63 million tonnes, and significant infrastructure development aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and safety.

The South Central Railway's Vijayawada Division has reported an unprecedented year of achievements across key sectors, including revenue, freight loading, and passenger services, Division Manager Mohit Sonakia announced on Thursday. Sonakia disclosed that the division had amassed a record ₹5,907 crore in gross revenue, a testament to its robust growth trajectory.
The division saw record freight loading of 40.63 million tonnes, contributing ₹4,266 crore to gross freight revenue. The division also recorded an impressive 9.92% rise in passenger revenue, totaling ₹1,523.9 crores. Ticket checking earnings surged by over 36%, reaching ₹76.34 crores, indicative of tighter compliance and enhanced monitoring.
Key infrastructure improvements include the addition of 50 kilometers to the third line section and the commissioning of 152.54 kilometers of automatic block signaling. Safety initiatives under "Operation Nanhe Farishte" and "Operation Amanat" underscored the division's commitment to passenger security, with significant recoveries in both passenger and freight operations.
