SMVDSB Honored with 'Jal Yodha Samman' for Water Conservation Excellence

In a significant achievement, the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) received the esteemed 'Jal Yodha Samman' on Thursday, an accolade recognizing its exceptional contribution to water management and conservation initiatives.
The award ceremony took place at Vishalakshi Mantap, Bangalore, during a National Level Programme organized by the Art of Living Foundation, attended by revered spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and other prominent figures.
Sanctioned by NITI Aayog and the Ministry of Jal Shakti, this award applauds those who make substantial strides in water conservation as part of the broader 'Atmanirbhar Jal Bharat' vision. Representing the Chief Executive Officer, Sachin Kumar Vaishya, Assistant Conservator of Forests, accepted the honor on behalf of SMVDSB, underlining the Board's commitment to incorporating sustainable water management and advanced conservation practices.
Led by Chairman Manoj Sinha, the Board prioritizes providing quality amenities to pilgrims alongside implementing a wide-reaching, multifaceted approach towards effective water conservation. Initiatives include rainwater harvesting, groundwater recharge, wastewater treatment, efficient water-use techniques, smart water management tools, and the installation of water ATMs. Beyond these efforts, SMVDSB plays a vital role in enhancing river conservation, sanitation, and forestation projects, with an annual plantation drive planting over 1.5 lakh saplings to augment water retention and curb soil erosion.
The Board has established itself as a spearhead in various sectors over the years, recording a stellar performance by consistently winning the First Prize at the 'National Water Awards' for three years running, recognized by the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India.
