Political Realignment: Bordoloi's Transition to BJP
Former Congress MP Pradyut Bordoloi has joined the BJP, dismissing allegations of pressure from the Enforcement Directorate as inconsequential. Announcing Bordoloi as a candidate from Dispur for the Assam Assembly elections, BJP also named Bhupen Kumar Borah. The elections are scheduled for April 9, with results on May 4.

Former Congress MP Pradyut Bordoloi has officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party, brushing aside allegations from Congress leader Manickam Tagore about alleged pressure from the Enforcement Directorate. Speaking to ANI, Bordoloi emphasized that such allegations do not impact him, stating, 'I'm least bothered by what he's saying.'
Bordoloi expressed his gratitude towards the BJP after being announced as a candidate for the Dispur constituency in the upcoming Assam assembly elections. Highlighting his extensive political career, Bordoloi stated he did not demand anything when joining the BJP, as he sought a platform to make a more meaningful impact.
In a significant political move, the BJP released its first list of 88 candidates for the Assam Assembly elections. Alongside Bordoloi, former Congress leader Bhupen Kumar Borah was also named. Meanwhile, Prateek Bordoloi withdrew his candidacy from the Margherita constituency, citing potential confusion following his father's party switch. Assam's elections will be a pivotal contest, with voting set for April 9 and results on May 4.
