Arvind Kejriwal, the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party, launched a vehement criticism against the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Election Commission of India, alleging that institutions are being exploited to manipulate electoral outcomes. In a statement on social media platform X, Kejriwal accused the BJP of transforming the Election Commission into a tool for electoral deceit, citing incidents in West Bengal that mirror those in Delhi elections. He claimed voter lists were tampered with, and that local authorities facilitated BJP's dominance, endangering the democratic process.
Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee reiterated her allegations against the Election Commission and BJP, asserting an 'undeclared emergency' in the state. Banerjee condemned the transfer of over 50 senior officials as politically motivated, intended to disrupt administrative integrity. Her post on X highlighted the supposed partiality of these actions, questioning the unprecedented focus on Bengal.
Banerjee's critique extended to broader systemic issues, warning that such actions compromised constitutional values and posed risks to civil society. With delays in publishing electoral rolls and key officials being repositioned, Banerjee questioned the BJP's intent, highlighting the potential to destabilize the region’s governance and citizen security. Her concerns point toward a significant political disturbance ahead of the upcoming elections.
