In a charged session at the Lok Sabha, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju rebuked the Opposition, labeling them 'restless' in their attempts to challenge the authority of the Speaker. Rijiju, referencing Rahul Gandhi's previous comments, emphasized that no one in the House has authority above the Speaker.
The Minister responded to allegations of Speaker partiality towards the National Democratic Alliance, highlighting that parliamentary rules allow any member to speak, provided they follow correct procedures. Rijiju pointed out that clear guidelines exist for getting the Speaker's attention.
Accusing Congress MPs of attempting to 'decide on who will sit on the chair', Rijiju defended the convention that gives Speaker final authority in unprecedented situations. A debate on the no-confidence motion saw Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi targeting Rijiju, claiming he interrupted the Opposition most.
