Amid rising tensions in the Gulf Region involving the United States, Iran, and Israel, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take urgent measures to ensure the safety of Tamils residing in affected areas. The Chief Minister has also pressed the Central Government to address the potential LPG cylinder shortages that might impact public, commercial, and MSME industries in Tamil Nadu.

In a social media post, Stalin highlighted the need for alternative arrangements for restaurants and the additional power supply required to mitigate the commercial gas cylinder shortage. The Chennai Hotels Association has echoed these concerns, urging the Prime Minister to prioritize the supply of commercial LPG cylinders, which are vital for Chennai's hospitality and tourism sectors.

DMK MP Kanimozhi also expressed alarm over the halted distribution of commercial LPG cylinders in parts of South India, including Tamil Nadu. She emphasized the need for a swift government response to prevent disruptions that could impact livelihoods and the broader economy. Meanwhile, officials assure that domestic LPG supply remains unaffected, with government actions ensuring priority supply to critical sectors.
