Restaurants across Tamil Nadu are facing a dire situation with their current LPG supplies dwindling, expected to last only a day or two, due to the ongoing West Asia conflict, hoteliers said on Tuesday.
Amid the crisis, some eateries have already cut down their menus to conserve LPG usage. One restaurant chain's chairman, wishing to remain anonymous, stated, "It feels like a second COVID-19 lockdown.” The impact has forced a reduction in the number of food items served.
The Tamil Nadu Hotels Association has urged the government to reconsider its suspension order on commercial LPG cylinders. This comes as the government has invoked emergency powers to enhance LPG production. Meanwhile, domestic and commercial cylinder prices have been increased by Rs 60 and Rs 114.5, respectively.
