Restaurants and hotels across India are on the brink of major disruptions and potential shutdowns, as the ongoing Iran war constrains vital cooking gas supplies. This crisis has prompted Indian authorities to establish a panel to review industry requests for aid.

The shortage is exacerbated by the U.S.-Israel war on Iran, which has halted ship traffic in the Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz. This has resulted in soaring energy prices and transport costs, severely impacting exports and output from Gulf producers, such as Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

India, being the world's second-largest importer of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), has invoked emergency powers to boost domestic production, yet the hospitality industry continues to struggle. With looming shortages, restaurants and hotels are seeking immediate government intervention to avert operational shutdowns.
