Government Seeks Lok Sabha Nod for Additional Rs 2.81 Lakh Crore Expenditure

In a significant development this Tuesday, the government sought approval from the Lok Sabha for a substantial additional expenditure of over Rs 2.81 lakh crore for the current fiscal year.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman tabled the second batch of Supplementary Demands for Grants, emphasizing that Parliament's approval is essential to authorize this gross expenditure.
The documentation details a net cash outgo estimation of Rs 2,01,142.96 crore. Furthermore, the remaining expenditure of Rs 80,145.71 crore will be offset by the savings of Ministries or increased revenue from enhanced receipts and recoveries.
