A recent report by Naukri.com highlights that 67% of women across various sectors in India believe that pay parity exists. The real estate industry emerges as the leader, with 42% of women in the sector affirming this belief. Other industries with positive perceptions include FMCG, pharmaceuticals, and automobiles.
The report, which surveyed 50,000 women across more than 50 industries, was released just before International Women's Day. It underscores a growing demand for equal pay audits and menstrual leave. This demand has increased from 19% to 27% in a year, with high earners being the most vocal at 48%.
However, challenges persist, as nearly 50% of women conceal personal plans, fearing bias. The report notes an increased sense of encouragement towards leadership roles, with 83% feeling inspired to seek such positions, particularly in southern cities. Despite progress, biases in hiring and promotions remain, emphasizing the ongoing need for workplace equality.
